The case involving the juror accused of trying to bribe fellow jurors to return a not-guilty verdict in the lengthy murder trial of entertainer Vybz Kartel is to return to court on March 20.
Yesterday, when the accused Livingston Cain, of a Stony hill, St Andrew, address appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, a female juror gave testimony in the matter.
The woman, similar to other jurors who testified, gave evidence that Cain told them to free the accused because they were promising entertainers.
The witness is to be cross-examined by Cain's attorney, Queen's Counsel Valerie Neita-Robertson, when the matter resumes.
Voted not guilty
According to the court, Cain was the sole juror that voted not guilty in the 10-1 decision to convict Kartel, fellow entertainer Shawn 'Shawn Storm' Campbell and three others for the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.
Cain is charged with one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, and five counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
He was arrested in the days after Vybz Kartel's trial in 2014.
Further allegations are that Cain tried to persuade jurors during the trial to return a verdict of not guilty, and even offered the jury forewoman $500,000 for a result in favour of Vybz Kartel and his co-accused.
Cain had his bail extended until the next court appearance.
